On Saturday, April 25, Paul had the honor of speaking at the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Texas – Austin Region Entrepreneur Bootcamp 2026. The room was full of Filipino-American founders, aspiring business owners, and allies—all sharing one thing in common: the drive to build something of their own.
Originally, Kelly was going to co-present on branding and marketing. The state organization had room for one Nalo Seed speaker, so Kelly stepped back and showcased Paul—who shared the stage with founders, operators, and community leaders from across Texas to talk about something every small business owner is wrestling with right now: how do I actually use AI without getting lost in the hype?
A Quick Note on PACCTX
PACCTX's mission is to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit within Filipinos, Filipino-Americans, and their allies—fostering business owners and professionals across Austin, Houston, DFW, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley. Bootcamp 2026 was organized by Joyce Garcia of Legacy Ensured Group, who put together a day packed with practical content for builders at every stage.
Filipino-American entrepreneurs carry something special into business: a generational instinct for hustle, family-run operations, and tight community networks. Pair that with the right tools and you've got a serious competitive edge. That was the energy in the room.
What Paul Shared: Starting and Growing a Business Using AI
Paul's session focused on cutting through the noise. There's a lot of "you must use AI or you'll be left behind" rhetoric floating around—and honestly, most of it isn't helpful to a small business owner trying to keep the lights on and the customers happy.
The real opportunity isn't to learn every tool. It's to pick one or two workflows that take time you don't have, and let AI handle the heavy lifting.
Treat AI Like an Employee
Give it context. Give it examples of what good looks like. Give it feedback. The more clearly you brief it, the better the work comes back.
Start Where It Hurts Most
Don't AI-ify everything. Pick the task you keep avoiding—follow-ups, proposals, social posts—and start there.
Practical Use Cases for the Small Business Owner
Paul walked through the everyday workflows where AI moves the needle fastest:
- Customer communication: Drafting first-pass replies, follow-up emails, and review responses in your own voice.
- Content creation: Turning one piece of content (a podcast, a customer call, a workshop) into ten—blog post, social captions, email newsletter, FAQ updates.
- Sales follow-up: Catching the leads that fall through the cracks. AI doesn't get tired or busy.
- Operations: Pulling structured data out of messy inputs—receipts, invoices, intake forms.
- Strategic thinking: Using AI as a sparring partner for pricing decisions, hiring criteria, or market positioning.

A few themes kept coming up:
"I know I need a better website, but I don't know where to start."
A familiar pain point. The good news: the bar to launching a real, conversion-focused site has come down dramatically.
"I'm a one-person show. How do I scale without burning out?"
This is exactly the question AI is built to answer—if you point it at the right tasks.
"How do I tell my story without sounding like everyone else?"
Heritage, family roots, and community are not "extras." They're the differentiator.
